My lawn is FULL of crab grass. I want to kill the crab grass and get my lawn back. Is it easier to kill the entire lawn and start from scratch? If so what time of year to do, and what to use?

Crabgrass can be controlled with a pre-emergent herbicide but you must put it on soon before the crabgrass starts to grow. It reseeds itself every season. You can kill the entire yard with round-up or a similar product but if the crabgrass has already reseeded you'll still have to use a crabgrass control or it will come right back. Check your local garden center for a weed and feed product with crabgrass control. If you want to start from scratch fall is the best time in my opinion. Early spring would be next but after that lots of TLC and H2O are needed for good success. That is unless you are rolling in cash and have sod put down. It's excellent but costly! Good luck. Spring is in the air!!
