i would like to know if it is possible to connect to the internet using my mobile connected to my laptop when i am away from home. I have just swapped isp providers for broadband and so am stuck in a contract otherwise i would have gone for wifi. If this type of connection is possible what leads etc do i require etc

You are moixing your connections here..
1) The mobile phone can be use ( with Bluetooth Connection, Infrared or cable) to connect to the web via GPRS or 3G.
2) You can use WiFi - using the LAN WiFi connection - to a Wireless hub or router and then on to the Internet.
These are 2 discreet methods. 1) above is VERY expensive for large amounts of data transfer, because you are usually charged by the Kb (KiloByte). The second can be free if you find an"open" WiFi connection. and is much faster than using the mobile phone.

number one you need a roamer phone with software disk. Number two you need a sim card that supports your request. It is far easier to use 3g/gprs data card, once you have one of these and the software installed you can switch between it and your phone, for example vodaphone will give you 100mg download every month for £20 or pay as you go for a fiver but be warned downloading this way can be damned expensive

look up your phone manufacture and model # and you should be able to find the accessories. i went accross the us 2 years ago and ordered it for my phone it worked great!!!
