What does the average PS2 game look like on this console?
I know not all PS2 games will play on the PS 3.

I'm from Europe, so all the ps3 consoles here will be "significantly less backwards compatible" (Sony's words, not mine) than in other regions like the US or The Far East.

It looks better than it does on the PS2. I actually have one, and i played the same game on the PS3 and PS2 and i could tell the difference.

And i think only the old old old PS2 games will not work on the PS3, and by old i mean the ones with the blue bottoms.

Will look better for sure. On HD. Don't worry Sony will release a firmware update in order to play almost all ps2 games.

I don't own one, but i will and i heard that it looks at its best when the PS3 is connected to a blu-ray TV(they come out next year in the UK).
