True Conservatism takes great courage, considering the liberal mainstream media will fillet any such person aspiring to higher office. What we need is Reagan.

I am a conservative. I believe in traditional American values. Like freedom of thought and action. Individual rights and responsibilities. God and country. I also feel that it is very much OK to have "one nation under God" in the pledge of allegiance.
Guliani is from New York. What more can I say. A wolf in sheep's clothing and nothing more. Guliani hasn't got a chance. He will not be on the ballots in the next election.
It seems that doing the right thing is always the least popular and the hardest. I can not ever side with the democrats and liberals because they always stand for what is morally wrong.

The main reason is he gets stuff done. Plus on 9/11 when our president was being run around for his protection, Rudy was at ground zero, leading and he was almost killed that day with the collapse of the first tower. 9/11 her was Americas mayor. Plus some of of Conservatives are tired of the far right unwillingness to compromise. We need a more centered moderate right now.

There are very few, definitely not the GOP leaders. Republicans increased discretionary spending by 40% over the last 12 years and have created a Monster govt that is damaging education, labor and many other areas with excess regulations. If the GOP wants a Socialist govt like they created, then they should have doubled taxes. They are an immoral, dishonest lot that is destroying our economy and our country. Just wait til tax receipts begin to slow due to the slowing economy and you will see a severe recession indeed.

Rudy is a Republican not a conservative. Many of the public spotlight Republicans have moved more toward the middle ground in order to win votes. This has actually caused many conservative Republicans to start considering themselves Libertarians.

It feels like we are all gone doesn't it? I think it's the school system, I'm a young republican who was blasted for my belief in school. I only had on teacher who was republican and he was a math teacher, but the history people and everything else was all the other way. It was hard because you could just see how they would push their own thoughts on kids by asking questions in school like "Why should we judge people who are gay?" or "why is it okay to not let someone get married who is in love with another person of the same sex?" and then we would write a report on it. (sigh) and other obvious questions that lead on way. It just makes me sad, I have a bad feeling that most of the school system is making brain washed adults.

Rudy is so popular with the cons because he's the hero of 9/11. Red staters love patriotic heroes like Rudy, so many of them will look the other way when it comes to his social stances.

Nice try at articulating the liberal strategy --- make conservatives vote all or nothing, while liberals vote the lesser of evils. Or, in football terms, the liberals seek to convince the conservatives to only use the "long bomb" while they'll use every play in the book to make yardage.
Sorry, I'll choose my own plays --- Thank you very much.

it appears that those who call themselves conservatives can now be broken down into two categories.
those like guiliani who are pro business and use the republican party name in order to get into a position of power so that they can make more for their friends and themselves.
and...
out and out radicals who want to turn the clock back to 1820.
i'd say that there is a fracture of this most organized party within five years.
when the cons lose in 2008 they will break apart into two parties and stop being a power force at all...
