I don't think he did get paid. Although I'm sure that helmet set up cost a pretty penny. Evil geniuses usually see the work as it's own reward?

He was a master of the dark side of the Force - I'm pretty sure he didn't pay any taxes. If he wanted to get paid, I'm sure he could have manipulated those in the Empire's treasury to pay him handsomely.

His dark suit would have been tax deductible because he used it for his work. His ship as well could be considered a company car and thus tax deductible. He probably paid very little in Taxes due to his heavy kill the Jedi work schedule.

Why would he care about money when he has power? He was the Emperor's second in command so I doubt he had to pay taxes and if he wanted something he could just use the Force to manipulate others to give it to him.

Most of his wages went towards paying off his suit; the operation to save his life took a lot of money to perform!

i think he rec'd his services gratis. if he didn't get what he wanted, just took it. who the hell was going to stop him?!? unfortunately, much like hitler, he probably got few lovely lasses.
