It wás indeed called Tour of Duty, with sergeant Zeke Anderson, lt. goldman and Purcell, Ruiz and Taylor.
And yes, Paint it black was by the stones actually. You should check out the entire soundtrack, it's great.
Three seasons was all that was ever made of this show, regretably, some 60 or so episodes in all.
(I have the entire series at home ;)

It was the Rolling Stones that sang paint it black and the series was called tour of duty i think.
