I don't really like flying and for 7 hours its quite scary, flying with aer lingus from dublin, was meant to be flying with emirates but had to postpone my trip and so emirates couldn't take me. Only consolation is; it's near home. I know it may be silly (because believe it or not I travel abroad every year), but just looking to be informed. If you have any good tips on Ras Al Khaimah and Dubai, I would be glad!!! xxx Caroline

You could definitely get some turbulence on the flight. It would be dishonest to tell you otherwise.

But you can make it! The turbulence might make you a little queasy, but just remember how much fun it will be to arrive and enjoy your destination.

Ginger pills always work for me. Some people prefer Dramamine. If you're worried at all about airsickness, be sure to have one of these remedies ready.

Good luck, and have fun!

The longer you're in the air the higher the likelihood of turbulence. It's a factor of flying and generally it doesn't do any harm to passengers or the aircraft. I fly regularly from the US to Europe and beyond and one thing is for sure I will experience turbulence of varying degrees at some point or another.

Flying from EU to Dubai you may experience a good bit of turbulence on final approach as you transition from sea to land. It can be unsettling and quite a jolt but rest assured it has the same effect on the aircraft as you would tickling a whale.

On the return, because of the wind directions and the coming together of EU and Asian airmasses there's often a fairly prolongued spell around Turkey particularly in the winter months. Again for someone who is generally unnerved by turbulence, it can be a little trying. Depending on time of day when you cross the Saudi desert it can get choppy too.

Of course arriving back at Dublin with its 'soft' weather might have you bouncing off one or two clouds.

Many modern aircraft are fitted with much more sophisticated systems and can get a 'visual' of impending 'bad weather' or get a tip from other aircraft that are experiencing turbulence, so often they fly around it without you even knowing.

As for tips on RAK and Dubai, it's much better to experience them yourself, so put this turbulence thing behind you and enjoy!

Residing in a broad bay, Dublin lies between Howth in the north and the headland of Dalkey to the south and the River Liffey separate the town in two making from this city a fascinating town that you will have the possibility with hotelbye to visit it. Dublin has given the entire world such well-known fictional like: Yeats, Beckett, Joyce, Shaw, and Wilde. Dublin was a UNESCO City of Literature in 2010 therefore is surely an fascinating town to visit particularly if you want to visit Bewley's Oriental Café ;.Many could claim that Bewley's Oriental Café may be the treasure in the crown. Dubai has several ethnic features in addition to most of the attractive modern add-ons and with Hotelbye you'll know more about this city. In the Bastakia region you'll uncover the old Dubai but the most gorgeous places that Dubai is offering could be the Burj Khalifa, the world's highest building and shopping malls that can come detailed with mammoth aquariums and interior skiing slopes. The Burj Al-Arab certainly is the place you intend to stay. That lodge could be the world's highest resort with 321 m high and is located alone artificial area on the Dubai coastline. Designed to resemble a billowing dhow sail, the outside of the Burj Al-Arab is lit up by a choreographed shaded light display at night. Decadent in every way possible, it's one of the very most high priced accommodations in the world but is certainly worth it.

Hey there, 7 hrs is nothing, your gonna be fine. It's a really easy flight. I am off to Dubai again in april to visit my sisters. Your gonna love it. Definatly try and go to the jumeria bab al shams in the evening for the Arabian Expirence, sound cheesy but it's not , it's a really good night , it's about 45 mins into the desert from dubai and the food is amazing. Look at the jumeria beach hotel web site. Try the indoor ski centre and the Mall of the emirates, thats really wierd, it's nice to go in there when it's 50 oc outside just to cool off for an hour. Go to wild wadi as well it's a really cool water park next to the jumeria beach hotel. Go sandsurfing thats good. Try and get to the camel races as well. Go to global village, thats a hugh night time market and park. for cheap handbags and shoes go to the karama. Before you go, try and book yourself into the serviceair lounge on your return home, for £17 you get all drinks, food and a massage. it's way worth the money. if i think of anything else i'll let ya know. Have a great time and take loads of money for all them shoes and bags!!!!!!

Having been to Kenya twice, (a 9 hour flight), may I suggest that you treat turbulence in the same way as a roller-coaster? Just wave your arms and say whhoooooooooooooooo! Everyone around you laughs and forget any nerves.
19 and 20 seater Safari planes have even more turbulence, so even better!
All this and my first ever flight was at the age of 59.

Emirate is a good airlines with nice facilities. all routes have turbulence but a lot of travelers did get over it. so don't be scared just sleep during flight. I've worked in saudi arabia and their law tried to adhere to Islam standard. i heard Dubai is much more lenient.

u will always feel turbulence along any flight particularly if long haul and most of the turbulence in my experince most of it u get over the medditteranean or someone else pointed out over any part of the sea u wll definately fel it. Nothing to orry about. The pilots r used to these things and if i were u i would trust them and leave it in the their hands rather than worrying abt it and......Bon voyage!

I've been to Dubai four times and experienced hardly any turbulence. It's more of a nuiscance than scary,as you have to return to your seat..it doesn't last long though.emirates is a great airline..enjoy.You do realise that temperatures can reach 50C in July/August don't you...shouldn't spoil your fun though. The sea is as warm as bathwater so don't bank on it cooling you down.

I flew to Dubai and experienced horrific turbulence towards the tail end of the flight over water. The plane shook so hard a few times and dropped so fast that even the stewardess screamed. The person near me threw up and some were crying. I was terrifed to fly back when my vacation was over
