Microsoft stopped supporting Windows 98 quite a while ago...that means any and all software and hardware vendors would have too...so far as installing windows 98 on your newer hardware is concerned it should work, but there is no guarantee that the hardware vendors would have released the necessary & compatible drivers for Windows 98. Also i think that win98 doesn't support hard drives more than 80GB in size, which means that if your computer's got a bigger harddrive than that, it'll cause problems.
If you do wanna try, you can install both WinXP and Win98 in dual-boot and experiment with Windows98...that way you can always fall-back(!?) on WinXP in case you face problems...but if you wanna do anything productive, WinXP is better suited...or Win2k3 for that matter....or maybe Linux!? ;)

No it will not. The computer I'm on right now is an athlon 64. I bought it for $300 with the monitor because the guy who had it put 98 on it and it wasn't working right. I put XP on it and it works great. It will still run but you'll have problems getting alot of stuff to work because there's no drivers for 98.

You could... but I wouldn't. Processors don't care what's running on them (for the most part) but I think the newer motherboards, drivers and USB 2.0 ports would object to having Windows 98 installed. So again... yeah, I just wouldn't and I wouldn't even WANT to try. It'd be well... it'd be a good experiment but as far as making a usable system out of that, no, I promise that would not happen.

Why would you want to? Windows 98 sucks.
I really do not think that you would be able to work with it, since it is far too outdated for many applications of newer computers.

Umm yeah but it depends on which hardware your talking about and if that supports windows 98. My advice, read the hardware box or search the internet for your spacific hardware and check if its compatible. Best of luck!
