If I fried my motherboard by accidentally grounding it while installing it in a new case, does that also damage any cards or drives that may have been connected when I powered up, or can I salvage these parts?

i am not sure about cards but your drives will be safe.

In theory, your drives should be fine. I suspect that your video card, audio and your controller card are done for. You will not know until you connect them to a new board.
