I've got an '06 Harley Davidson Sportster with about 13500 miles on it, and the tires are already starting to look a little worn. Is this normal? How long are HD's stock Dunlops supposed to last?

if u dont ride doubles much, have the proper air pressure at all times the tires should have quite of bit of life. in some instances, u wont need a new tire until the 20k service. i've been told by other riders at the plant the dunlops will last quite a while. the owners and service manual will tell u exactly when u should change the tires.

be advised, doing burnouts, and/or having to slide the back tire from locking up the brakes is just 2 reasons why the back tire is wearing out quicker than the front if this is the case. dunlops are a harder rubber....u probably would have needed a new tire if u had either avon venom or metzler's on, they're a stickier tire.

I got 13,000 from the original Dunlops, went to Bridgestones and i am at 12,700 and changing them next week. I don't know that it make a whole lot of difference which brand you use. It's more how and where you ride. The sportster is lighter than mine so that is probably helping with the life. Don't wait to long to were your on unsafe tires. You don't want a problem at 70 miles an hour.

sport bikes last about 5000-8000 depends on rider but harley's last 10000-20000 depends on roads. gravel roads and poor roads are hard on tires and stock tire arent the best wearing tire in the world so your are doing good

alot depends on your ridding style, jackrabbit take off & stopping on a dime, burning rubber, also is your tyre pressure at the required psi, paved road or dirt road, city or country road, road condition etc.etc. my can last for around 15000 - 20000 km (naked blackbird)
