just look at the yahoo rankings or the e.s.p.n. rankings these
are two great rankings that can help a team.

I want a player that will contribute every day, even Johan Santana cannot do that. I have never intentionaly picked a pitcher earlier than the 3rd round. Get the best hitters available no matter the position as long as you can. The fill in the positions that you need.
I have followed this way for the past several years and have done pretty well (3 firsts and a second) last year.

Other than Santana who is a first rounder, and then Carpenter, Halladay etc. in the second tier who can be had in the 4-6 rounds pitching is a lot easier to come by than hitting. It depends on your scoring system and format how you want to draft your hitters. Look at position scarcity(i.e. 2nd base and catcher) and depth at positions like 1st, 3rd and OF. HRs, RBIs,RS and BA are easier to find than SB. The best thing to do if unsure is to take the best available player in rounds 1-2 regardless of position then look for 4 category players in the next few rounds. Shortstop is a good position to pick up SB and still get complete players. (Reyes, Jeter, Rollins, Ramirez, etc.)

don't EVER listen to someone that says pitching isn't important cuz a pitcher goes once every 5 days. EVRYBODY's pitchers go once every 5 days, so it counts for just as much. You want to snag a good 1B first. Then you might want a good OF. Then you need a good SP, then focus on building your infield and mound. There's enough OF out there to last you a litle while. However, you might want a C early. After the first 3 are gone, they all suck.

1st look at league settings for the scoring stats, Some leagues are setup to favor pitching or hitting.
I prefer H2H leagues The object in H2H is to win 1/2 +1 of the scoring stats so decide which way You want to go, Pitching or hitting and stick to it. I tend to value saves and Hitters SB's.
Try a couple leagues this year each 1 focusing on 1 side of stats or the other and see how You do Good Luck

You have more batting stats than pitching stats, I'd take a batter first round UNLESS Johan Santana is still availible. Johan is a fantasy cheat, he's so good
