You are going to have driver issues and a bigger headache than just reformatting the HDD. When you use an existing HDD preinstalled with windows, it will have drivers and everything else from the old motherboard. When using the new motherboard with the old HDD, you are going to have compatibility issues, driver issues, and in some cases wont be able to boot. It is just a good idea to reformat the HDD to the new motherboard to save you headaches and future problems.

Chances are the drivers present on your hard drive will not be compatible with your new motherboard. Make a backup and then get your Windows disc out. You're going to be there a while.

You need to reinstall your Windows. The others are right. You will spend far too much time trying to reconfigure everything, and not have programs that are compatible. It sucks, but you will not have all of those problems.
