When my wife is asked to play a game of tennis with a genetleman whith who she had a premaritual relationship. She finds it necessary to give an explination and he ask why. Am I over reacting in insiting that her answer be No wothout explinaion. We have decideded that she needs to stop associating with this person but she finds it necessary to explain why she cannot play badminton with hm.

That's a hard one! Suppose it comes down to trust maybe she feels you don't trust her if you have asked her not to go, if you trusted her then you would be able to let her go with out question. On the other hand she is with you now and if it bothers you that much then she should take your feelings into consideration and not go. Sounds like she feels guilty not going as probably wants to go but isn't so wants to explain that it is for her marriage. I don't think there is anything to worry about it's if she goes and lies to you that there is a problem

perhaps she thinks a plain no is rude. whats the explanation? that could be the real issue
