P4 may sound old but 3GHz is big. But since you're on a budget, then better to get the 805 for it's Dual core ability.
Don't get a Mac, I'm an experienced window user and I also experience in using a mac (at the office)... Mac does crash, freeze and there's a lot of useful features that mac actually don't have that window have. *suprised*

as properly the very undeniable fact that optimum persons seem at FSB as a gauge of velocity that's misunderstood. The Northbridge chip is used as a baseline for the CPU to make certain its very own working frequency, now no longer the FSB. Your computing device can now no longer pass any swifter than the Northbridge can shield. at distinctive hand if the processor is dealing with heavy I/O operation (like a server), the Southbridge is larger significant. optimum persons % the quicker FSB in straight forward terms on account that's a brilliant determination that they understand. yet as constantly, it rather is the use that determines the gadget. some CPU manufacturers are bypassing the Nothbridge and Southbridge and incorporating the two reminiscence or snap pictures administration by making use of way of integrating the function into the processor or connecting directly to it bypassing the Northbridge (and the FSB). So do now no longer seem at in straight forward terms the appropriate fee of the processor, yet its shape too. good fulfillment.

805D, The pentium 4 is a single core while the 805D is dual. It may have a slower bus, but it is worth it in my opinnion. P4s are kinda going out of style.

You can opt for Dual Core processor or if you want the cost to be less, you may also go for AMD as it also gives better performance.

Get a MacPro - better resale value, easier to use, doesn't put money
in Bill Gates' pocket.
Oh yes, and smaller total cost of ownership (operating costs).
