I'm not sure what abreva is, but hopefully it is an antiviral cream. I'll look it up.

Antiviral creams are very good against herpetic cold sores. Zovirax and the like. Discuss it with your doctor.

Hmmm - Docosanol - sounds like it might work.

If it doesn't, get something else: check the list in the wiki link below. Get hold of aciclovir or famciclovir or something. See your doctor.

Well cold sores are caused by the Herpes Simplex virus, which you must have at some point been exposed to.
There is this stuff called Lip Medex, it comes in a little blue tub type container. Works wonders for cold sores. I myself have never had cold sores but my friend gets them all the time... here is some more info about cold sores...

You can start taking the Vitamin Licin and it also comes in Gel Capsul you can break it open and put the Gel on the Cold Sores. It works the best if you start this when you first feel them start. They carry Licin at CVS, WalMarts, Ect...

Hope this helps.....

Take Lysine... every morning. It is something the body produces anyways but it is shown to reduce the number of cold sore outbreaks. My husband takes it every morning. It is a vitamin so you can find it easily online or at GNC. It has worked for him!

Whatever you do, please keep in mind that cold sores are caused by a virus of the herpes family and thus very contagious. They can very easily be spread to other parts of your body. Use whatever cream works best for you and be sure and wash your hands thoroughly after contact.
