They have done it with farm animals for a while. You can have your pets cloned now. I don't see it happening with people for a while. I think they still have some issues with aging.

Rent "The 6th Day". It gives a good fictional insight to the cloning issue. I'm not thinking that wide-spread cloning will happen anytime soon, but it is a possibility

legalities aside, they already do it and are considering cloning to have "spare body parts" to use in transplants.

We can already clone animals.

And it won't be illegal for long.
