Hello there.
I don't think that you can go wrong with Clinique. I started using their skin care when I was about 14 and gradually started using their cosmetics as I needed them. I truly believe in their products, there is nothing better on the market for your skin. They emphasize skin care which is the key. All the make-up in the world is not going to do you any good if your skin is not good. And, if your skin is wonderful you will not need a great deal of make-up.
Good make-up will never hurt your skin. What does damage to your skin is cheap make-up that is not properly removed before you go to bed! That is a make-up no-no. Always, always, properly cleanse and moisturize your skin before going to bed. You will wake up with better looking skin then when you went to bed!
Clinique makes awesome foundation in several different formulas. One is perfect for your skin. Their sales people are well educated and well informed on their products. They are never pushy, just smart.
Their skin care is first rate. To this day I still get comments on what amazing skin I have and I give credit to a lifetime of using Clinique to faithfully care for my skin. Use it twice a day and your skin will look great. You can spend a lot more money but you will not get better skin care.
Clinique make-up is fun and up to date. You will find the colors you love and formulas that care for your skin.
Remember sun screen. The sun, not make-up is your skins number one enemy. I have worn sun screen every day of my life!
Take care and have fun. I hope I have answered your questions.
Love and Blessings

Hi,
Cosmetics has come quite a long way nowadays that some even boast to beneficially change your skin.
Since you're 17, you don't necessarily have to wear foundation. Do you have mostly clear skin? If you want something light, have you tried a tinted moisturizer? Bobbi Brown makes good tinted moisturizers, and they also make great foundations. Bobbi Brown is known for having the "natural" look -- pretty, but not overwhelmed with makeup.
Some other good brands are Laura Mercier (which also advocates the "natural look"), Trish McEvoy (same), Chanel, and quite a few others. Bare Escentuals (do you this brand in your department store?) is a brand that prides itself on using mineral makeup, and boasts that its products will not clog pores and instead, makes your skin better by wear. Bare Escentuals does look very pretty on skin (especially younger skin), but I have heard reviews from "older" women who feel that Bare Escentuals draws attention to wrinkles and lines because it settles in those lines. However, Bare Escentuals provides that candle-light glow just by putting it on, so you look like you have amazing skin.
There are some other good mineral makeup companies out there that dermatologist offices actually sell to their patients (after surgery or a peel, etc.). However, these brands aren't usually readily available in department stores, and you may have to go to their website to look at where the products are sold. One example of a good mineral makeup company is Jane Iredale. Jane Iredale cosmetics are used quite often in dermatologists and skin clinics throughout the nation.
If you prefer to stick with the brands that can be found in department stores, I recommend you to go around to each counter and tell them your preferences, and then ask them to try foundation on you. After they do, make sure to ask for a mirror and take it outside with you to see how it looks in daylight (the lights in the department store sometimes alter the color of the foundation), and keep trying on foundations (you can go to different counters if one counter didn't have the perfect match to your skin) until you find the ideal color. The perfect foundation color should blend seamlessly into your skin -- there shouldn't be a difference of color between your cheek and the bottom of your jawline, or your face to your neck.
Good luck! :)

Try flawless foundation. It is perfect for someone your age. Not all makeups will make you age. It depends on the ingredients used. The people at Artistry are very worried about defying the signs of aging.

heeeya i hd the same problem selecting a foundation.....but u can go in for loreal dream matte foundation or go for bodyshop products..... a suggestion is tat when u r a teen instead of goin in for a foundation u can go in for a concealer .... ask the person at the counter she will tell u abt it..... bcoz a foundation makes ur skin look older and a concealer hides ur marks giving it a natural glow...... but if u rilly wanna foundation loreal drem matte is the best option..... non sticky light and it seems as if u havent applied a nything

Try estee lauder powder foundation. It looks really natural.
You could also try their tinted moisturizer. Clinique has a lot of pink undertones in their makeup. Estee lauder will be able to match you up perfectly.
Makeup doesn't make you age more, but it is better for your skin to breathe---better to not wear foundation than to wear it.

Just a sidenote: If you are prone to breakouts, use products which are non-comedogenic(won't block your pores).
