I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, but in the mean time I'd like to give him some relief.

My 8 month old baby has that same thing too. There are no medicines safe for an infant that young. You can keep their little nose clean with some saline and a little bulb. You can get vicks baby bath, vicks the baby up, and keep a cool mist humidifier running. Tylenol (plain jane Tylenol) to keep the baby comfy if he/she is in pain. The only way though that dr. should give you anything is if you're baby has an infection and needs antibiotic, because just in the time since my last daughter (2 years) they have deemed all the "infant" cold medicines unsafe for any infant under 2 years old or 24 pounds.

I would agree with most of the posters here but a quick fix to loosen the phlem is to take baby into the bathroom with you and turn the shower on very hot and let the steam open up the breathing passages. Too long could be abd for baby so limit this to twenty minutes. Works well for babies with croup or croup like coughs. Keeping that mucous thin will keep baby from getting an infection. if it persists for more then 7 to 10 days a doctor visit is warranted because baby may need antibiotics for a bronchial infection or even pneumonia. I would try the humidifier but make sure the filter is clean and changed or cleaned daily because that can actually make your more sick by using a dirty humidifier. Id do the shower thing too....good luck!

A cool mist humidifier, clear liquid drink such as pedialyte after milk as it is mucus producing and will cause more cough. You can use an over the counter cough prep. It may help the symptoms so the child can sleep but it will have to run its course. Only need to see a doc if he comes down with a high fever, is lethargic or you hear wheezing. Good luck!

Does your baby have a fever? Infant Tylenol or Motrin.
The humidifier will help thin out the secretions too. If you don't have a stethoscope-put your ear to your baby's back and listen in several places. If you hear any rattle, crackling, or wheezing noises with his/her normal breathing take your baby to see the pediatrician. If coughing is severe, or if your baby seems to have difficulty breathing, don't wait, go to the ER.

I even have! I took my son to the physician with it whilst he became into approximately 18 months previous, and that they handed over me. They listened to his chest, reported it became into sparkling and sent me away. He might awaken a pair of circumstances a night and it appeared like he became into choking, i might leap off the mattress and run into his room to take a seat down him up and he'd cough slightly then bypass back to sleep. I nonetheless don't comprehend what it became into that became into incorrect, yet my well being centred visitor gave me this suggestion; improve the top end of the cot up on telephone books or positioned a pillow under the mattress to maintain her greater upright. positioned a bowl of water in her room, the required heating particularly dries the air out that may worsen little chests. positioned funds right into a decongestant plug; Karvol, Calpol and Olbas Oil do those. you additionally can hoover her mattress and supply her mattress outfits a solid wash at a extreme temperature, in basic terms to freshen issues up, and bypass away her mattress room window open for an hour for the time of the day, to get some air in. My son stopped an afternoon or 2 when I did those ^^^ issues and that i've got not had a concern in view that. desire it works for you too!
