why do their presidential candidates have a 75% divorce rate?

Thank goodness they have a Mormon in the group!

If the once-divorced "Hollyweird" actor Fred Dalton Thompson joins the race, he will bring the average down a bit.

Mitt Romneys record on his attempt to thwart same sex marriage in Massachusetts is enough to show me that here we have a man with a vision of American that is exclusive. I find that to be unworthy of my vote.

Maybe it is just me, but I feel that the "sanctity of marriage" issue is a smokescreen. By sanctity of marriage, I believe that they mean, simply, NO GAY MARRIAGE. It has nothing to do with the sanctity of that function, or else they would be protesting and making as much fuss over divorce. But then again, they can't because they want to be able to get them!

It is simply a reason to promote a disagreement with gay marriage. They need to focus it in a positive way, though, in order to make people think they are supporting something, not against something. It is political terminology only.

It is due to sheer Republican hypocrisy. Republicans use “family values” as a weapon against political opponents, as a propaganda tool to rev up their base and to oppose certain groups.

The adulterous affairs and divorces of individual politicians are as unimportant to most of them as they are to most Democrats. If the situation were reversed, however, and the leading Democratic candidate was a thrice-married adulterer, Republicans would be screaming about the country’s moral decline being tolerated by and promoted by Democrats.

Unless family values can be used hypocritically to disparage any individual or any group that they don’t like, Republicans only use it as a sanctimonious, moralistic slogan in a transparent attempt to portray themselves as somehow morally superior, without any concern about the actual well being of American families or any intention of actually practicing any worthwhile family values.

The sanctity of marriage is important to Republicans becuase the dollar is more important. Anything that may impact profit margins is a no-no.

They're hyprocrites: Do as I say, not as I do. Newt is talking about running for President and he admits he committed adultry both times before he divorced and remarried. His latest marriage was to a congressional aide 20 years his junior, who he was having an affair with while he was screaming about Clinton and an intern!

I think the politicians would openly say that their choices have not been as good as they'd like. That goes to their individual actions, though, and has nothing to do with the sanctity of marriage, which these politicians would argue to the end of the world should only be between a man and a woman.

Don't blame republicans for their failure to maintain their marriages. Society today has designed marriage as disposable. Even in the Private sector the number of successful marriages declines every year.

How many of your friends moms and dads, are divorced after long marriages? How many of your friends moms and dads are working on second and third marriages?

Personally me and my wife have been married for 30 years, but where people like us were in the majority 30 years ago, we are now in the minority.

Personally, I could care less who a presidewnt sleeps with as long as he/she doesn't let it interfere with how the country is run. No more Bush republicans. The democrats will win the nex election in a walk.

Actually Mitt Romney is the only Republican candidate who truly values the sanctity of marriage.

He santifies it so much that he'd like to do it over...and over...and over...and over...and over...and over...and over...

No divorces for him, no sir. Just one big happy harem.

They are concerned with "traditional values" meaning they are white, middle-aged, ugly with a wife at home that they can beat and treat like sh__, who will have babies, cheat whenever they like, and divorce them when they feel they have used them up.

Republicans - the party who cares about pre-life, vegetative life, and death; but cares nothing about the time in between.
