"wscntfy.exe" is the Windows Security Center, introduced in Service Pack 2. It displays a tray icon indicating the status of updates, virus protection, and firewall.

wscntfy.exe can be disabled by going in to "Services" and disabling Security Center.

Note: The wscntfy.exe file is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. In other cases, wscntfy.exe is a virus, spyware, trojan or worm!

It's a Microsoft program used for security in Windows. It is important - don't kill or disable it.

it's windows security center, it shows up as a badge icon in your system tray. you don't need it, it just notifies you about firewall, antivirus and other settings.
