The historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, it's right there by Rocky Mountain National Park. The hotel is over 100 years old and it's the hotel that Stephen King got the inspiration for "The Shining" from.
Very cool!

The Royal Gorge is an excellent place to stop; it's south of Colorado Springs. Also Durango in southwestern Colorado.
Wolf Creek Pass, between Durango and the Royal Gorge, is a good scenic route, and Pagosa Springs is a good place to stop also.

I've never been, but have seen pictures from a friend of the continental divide and it's beautiful. I think that might be worth checking out. Have a good trip.

Depends on where you're from. The typical Coloradan would say that if you're from CA or TX, it's best to stop at the CO border and turn around.

You should stop in Petchaboon Province, north central Thailand - they call it the Switzerland of Thailand.. just got back - bought some fresh gingko and ginger.. nice people, nice scenery.. but not sure if it's on your route, you didn't say where you were starting from..
