They have ruined the American standard of livng, by being so in bed with the outsourcing, working class-hating rich, the rich who live to give tax breaks to other rich people, and the rich who love what a good war does for their wallets.
In other words, no way in God's green earth.

You know I used to feel that way too, at least when it came to presidential, Senatorial and Congressional elections. I only voted for a few local Republican candidates, who I thought had tremendous integrity and capabilities. As far as I am concerned, the Republicans disgraced themselves irreversibly in the early 1980s, when they embraced those crazy "right to lifers."
But I now think you should never say never. A lot of people are saying that their vote will depend on the integrity of their favorite candidate. Honestly, I don't think a candidate who is slick and just telling us what we want to hear will make a reliable or responsible president or leader. I can think of candidates in both parties who I will not trust and would probably never vote for. I don't think it's a good idea to give either party your vote forever without accountability. It's a very dangerous thing to do. That is why we are in the mess we are in today. Are you sure the Democratic Party could not do the same?

I would have no problem doing so. After the Democrats prove that they are completely inept at running the government, after they raise taxes, after they run out of Iraq and leave the country broken and embittered and controlled by terrorists, after the middle class has been forced to pay for illegal immigrants and medical care has been run into the ground by being forced into a national system, I'm sure a lot of people will have no problem voting Republican again.
Just wait til they re-instate the draft. Think Nancy's kids will be on the front lines?

Even though I am a Democrat, I have always said that one should vote for the candidate NOT the party. There are good ones and bad ones in all parties.
Vote for the Veteran first. Vote against the incumbent, always.

I used to be a die-hard Republican but after seeing this president send our National Guards to do combat duty in Iraq, I can never support the Republicans again.
Grandma, and Grandpa, a Vietnam Veteran say "It's time to bring our troops home alive instead of bringing them home in body bags and flag draped caskets."

I vote for the candiate that best matches my opinions and views. If the democrats would pick a moderate candiate, I would gladly vote for them. But given the choice of Osama or Hillary, I'll stick with the republican canditate.

Sure. I do now consider myself 'independent registered Republican in order to vote in the primaries' but I'll vote for the best individual.
The Democrats as a group aren't better.

If I ever find a progressive, reasonably honest, intelligent Republican candidate who is not beholden to the Christian Right, I'll vote for her!
