I just heard that comedian Richard Jeni was found dead. He committed sucicide. Does anyone know what was going on in his life to cause this?

Richard Jeni was suffering from Cancer discovered last year - after a series of chemo treatments (which left him weak and cancelling some gigs) he recovered his strength over Christmas. However the latest diagnosis 2 weeks ago confirmed that the cancer had spread. He was given only 3 months to live. A month ago he made a sizable donation to charity naming a whole list of his friends, mentors and people that helped his career as co-donors (although it was only his money). He cancelled the upcoming Chicago gig to give some time and try and seek some alternative treatments but it had spread too far. I suspect he was devastated with the news and did not want to go through an agonizing end of his life like he had seen 2 close family members go through recently and decided to end his life right away. Very very sad. To know him in his personal life was to love him.

In response to terryrpw - If he did have cancer, wouldn't that have come out in the press already? Usually if a celebrity has cancer the world knows within days i.e. - Suzanne Somers, Farah Fawcett, Fran Dresher. It's too bad that if it was cancer he didn't have a way to try and beat it before it was too late. He was so funny - He will be missed!

I will not believe this until I see it officially announced. Just seems strange that there is little to no mention on the net of his passing. But, if it turns out to be true then we have lost one of the funniest stand-ups in recent history. A damn shame to lose a guy like that so young.

He was a really funny dude. He used to have a special that came on HBO a lot and I watched it when it was on. RIP Richard. Make God laugh.

I heard the same thing, but cannot find any information on any website to confirm it, except celebritydeathbeeper.com and wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Jeni). If anyone knows for sure, please confirm.
