Please tell me the reasons………..is that normal? Give us positive feedback…..We are very ……very anxious.

This happens....as long as the doctors are not concerned then you shouldn't be concerned. I know that this can cause a lower score on the APGAR but I am SURE the hospital and staff are taking care of your nephew!!!

Rest assurred....everything will be fine. It is understandable that you are anxious...but I bet he will be keeping your sister up late with the crying soon enough!

He's just a happy baby. Crying just tells you he wants something. Sounds like he is very content. You guys are doing great. People just get happy when babies cry coming out because it's the first breath of life. If the baby is breathing fine, that is still the most amazing thing in this world. And don't worry, he will get frustrated later on and start crying. I promise!

He could be tired. I also think he might need winded. It's common for babies to be so tired they can't sleep when they go to long or get too frustrated trying to sleep. Babies tend to go from happy to sad faster than you can stick a pacifier in their mouth. Please do not let him scream and cry. At the very least, hold him close to you so he knows he is not alone. Try holding him chest to chest with you and patting his back, sometimes they like it real hard. Even if he does not need winded, they like the rhythm. If he is spitting up a lot, he might have a tummy ache from eating too much or eating too fast. If you are bottle feeding, try having baby take a break half way through the bottle to sort of slow things down. He's just a little guy and is scared of the big world. He needs you to be there for him when he does not understand what is going on.

Baby Not Crying

Childbirth is equally as traumatic for baby as it is for mom....on the body that is. Your little nephew may just be exhausted from the whole ordeal and is recovering his own way-is he sleeping a lot? Most babies sleep all the time in the first week or two and that's totally normal. I think that's Nature's way of letting mom recoup before they "wake-up!" I really wouldn't worry about it until a few months into it, but I would venture to guess that the crying will come soon.

My dear friend,

There could be thousand one reasons. The best judge will be the doctor who delivered the baby or the one your sis is consulting.

All the answers given here will be on assumptions only.

Don't panic. Let mom and baby be together which gives baby a sence of safety at this time when everything is new to him.

It is normal, my daughter who is now 9 did not cry at delivery, she rarley cried throughout her first year. Never cried to let us know she was hungry, had a dirty diaper etc. The only time she ever cried was when she was hurt. I did talk to her doctor about this and he told me some babies are just like that. I would talk to your doctor with concerns, it will set your mind at ease.

hi,
first calm down their are babies out ther that don't cry just because they don't cry unless the doctors are acting weird or acting worried then you should not have a problem. I would suggest that if you are still worried that you start asking the doctors questions.

Is baby eating, peeing and pooping normally?
Maybe your sister is just so in tune with her baby that she tends to his needs before he starts crying! Crying is actually a LATE indicator of hunger.
