I am kind of weird in that respect; I like to touch things like plants, especially if it is unusual. Usually this has to do with wanting to see if they are real or not because some of these new artificial plants look pretty real! I touch them for reassurance of the accuracy of my guess, but other than that, I find nothing at all "reassuring" in touching "lovely textured" barks.
Also, some of the more exotic plants, the ones I have never seen in real life before, I want to know what they are like, so I will examine them closely, touch and smell them sometimes. Personally I think that it is the child in me.
Now, if you are wanting to have a relationship with a tree, call Al Gore. As you know, he is busy trying to destroy the trees greenhouse environment and I believe that this is probably due to a failing out that he had with his "significant other" oak tree. I am guessing that he is still pulling out splinters.

Trees are fantastic aren't they. I love beach tree woods, the really old ones are fantastic to lay under and just look up at all the branches. I'm not utterly mad I only do it when there's no mud underneath. Oh and eating the beach nuts I love that lol.
Oak trees are fab specially when they are in a place where their branches haven't had to reach for the light and they are in such a beautiful shape.
I shall go to the woods later and touch a tree now.

Not really weird...just very in touch with nature. I got hit by a tree branch/twig yesterday. I think it would've helped if I had been watching where I was walking though. Yes, I have also had this compulsion to touch a tree, it's just being in touch with nature.

Sadly, not soon enough...too long...
Ah Spring...time for the trees to wake up from their winter slumber. I love this time of year and it is a ritual for me to go out in the woods, or along the river anf greet the trees (wake them). They all (or at least most) need a good hug now and then. Nothing weird if you should feel the tree's energies....It is a living thing after all and though most humans do not accept it, all living things have energies that can be felt.
So you go ahead and greet the trees and be happy for it!! nothing weird at all.

I spend alot of time outdoors in my huge yard and I meditate under a large Willow when the weather permits. I always run my hands over the bark of the main trunk before I do. It's a kind of ritual for me. Trees make my spirit sing!

About 20 seconds ago. I went and held on to the branch that is by my window just for you. Bark is a nice texture though.

This morning,
The lovely weather prompted me to tidy up my garden and ive got a lovely apple tree at the bottom of it. Had to replace the water in the bird bath and fill the feeder with nuts!

On Saturday afternoon, my daft old golden retriever was trying to climb it to get at a squirrel, I had my arms around her and the tree laughing at her.

When I was a wiccan, I put a spell on a tree and sealed it with my blood, so it would bloom with red flowers and the nest couple of days it bloomed with red flowers, freaked my kids out, weird huh?!
