last spring my husband and i started landscapeing our front yard (our side). When our neighbor saw us she had to come and help she told us where to put things how to do it this year we have worked out our new landscapeing ,but don't want a nosy neighbor intrudeing, we want to make the space our own ,however she has already insisted on makeing it a neighbor project even going as far as giveing us a plant list , i do not want to create strife between us ,but i also do not want petunas and hasta's everywhere

I would calmly hand her the list back and tell her that this is not your style and you appreciate her help, but it is not needed. If she is nice, she will understand, if not, then be a bit more direct and tell her that you do not want her help, that this project is for you and your husband. Some people get pushy and if you don't push back, you will regret it.

Your first question to ask yourself is, How important is it to you to get along with this neighbor? You may have to live with her for years to come. Is the landscaping important enough to risk bad feelings? Next, do you rent or own? If you rent, the manager or owner can be a mediator between the two of you. The last resort option is to somehow divide the space evenly. You take your side, she takes hers.

Get a roll of freezer tape and draw a line right in the middle of the yard.

so do it while she is gone it your lawn right then tell her you wont to do it your way but you need to check out the zones for some plants
