Yes, even when you only listen to classical music it will calm you. It has been proven that when you listen to Mozart and other classical music while studying you actually remember what you're learning better.

Definitely!

If i'm having a **** day, I just go home and play the piano for hours and I'll feel great after that. I think the fact that i can make beautiful music with my fingers calms me down. However, i can't say the same about playing the guitar when it comes to calming me down.

playing any musical instrument can calm you... I always put my self into a trance and pass out when I play organ, guitar, piano...

When I was having a bad day I would play for 30-45 minutes and always feel better.

I think this is true.. it's sort of an outlet for emotions. When you play, it's releasing your stress, thoughts, feelings.
