During the first years of existence, the Civil Liberties Bureau had a close relationship with the Communist Party, but by 1940 co-founder, Roger Baldwin, became disenchanted with it and removed the communist members from the board of the ACLU. The ACLU continues to have a reputation as being a leftist organization, but in fact, it defends people all along the ideological spectrum from ultra-conservative to ultra-liberal if it determines that their civil liberties are being infringed upon.

No! The ACLU was founded by Roger Baldwin, Crystal Eastman, Albert DeSilver and others in 1920. They are nonprofit and nonpartisan and have grown from a roomful of civil liberties activists to an organization of more than 500,000 members and supporters. They handle nearly 6,000 court cases annually from their offices in almost every state.
The ACLU has maintained the position that civil liberties must be respected, even in times of national emergency. The ACLU is supported by annual dues and contributions from its members, plus grants from private foundations and individuals. They do not receive any government funding.

they do circuitously obtain taxpayer funds. ACLU became depending by technique of two human beings: Roger 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley & Crystal Eastman. 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley became fervently anti-communist; he no longer in reality purged the ACLU of communists, he wrote polemics hostile to Communist Russia "For the subsequent various years, 1st Earl Baldwin of Bewdley sought to artwork for global human rights, generating a volume, a clean Slavery, which condemned "the inhuman communist police state tyranny, compelled labor."

I dont know whether it was or not....but it is completely irrelevant...
I have no idea why people oppose the very existence of an organization that is dedicated to defending our civil liberties........An organization that values actual free speech and the constitution above all else....
I get so tired of people who taut freedom right up until the point that they disagree with how someone is acting out that freedom......Then the groups that defend that freedom are attacked.....
Folks....if you love freedom.....if you love the constitution...then you should love the ACLU.........

Unlikely. Why are people so scared of the idea that everybody should have access to good education, good health care and decent housing, employment opportunity and adequate food supply?
