I have considerable respect for Mr Thompson's work both as a legislator, & an entertainer. Despite my historical background as a "liberal" Dem , who has also actively supported Pro choice, I would give his candidacy serious attention & seek his viewpoints & proposals on the critical issues facing our country.
I am somewhat concerned by the fixation so many have on the abortion issue as a primary concern . The law is clear , & there is not any serious challenge to Roe v Wade likely. The Supreme Court has spoken on this, & it was a court supposedly committed to abolishing abortion at that.
Let's hear where Mr thompson stands on pressing issues like health care , the budget , the middle east , & oh yeah....personal responsibility.

I would support Fred Thompson over many of the other candidates I have seen so far. He has the depth of experience and he is a person who obviously considers his options before taking action.
Several years ago, when he was on the televised Senate hearings for some issue, I was very impressed by his insightful questions and rational approach to uncovering the facts of the case.
He projects the experience and poise that you want in a world leader. I may not agree with him on all issues, but then electing a president is more about finding someone who knows how to lead and who can set the right tone and the right values for his administration.

Over McCain and Guiliani, yes.
Over Gingrich, maybe.
We need a real conservative in the race. Why do you think Newt is polling 15-20%? Because there are no known conservatives in the race.

I have liked what Mr. Thompson says and stands for. The other person of interest for me is Mr. Richardson governor of New Mexico. I would like to hear more from these two before I decide who I will support.

I don't really know enough about him. From the candidates that I do know about, I really like Duncan Hunter (California) the best. I'm kind of incouraged in that a straw poll in Tampa put Hunter in 3rd place behind McCain and Rudy. A straw poll in Arizona put him in 1st.
I'll do some reading up on Thompson.

To early to know for sure, but as an actor he has had a lot of experience dealing with liberals, The next president will have to do that.

It's early but out of all the other candidates, he would absolutely get my vote. I generally do not vote anyway but I really like this guy. Might just have to register this time around...

Interesting!
I'm more of a libertarian, but I always liked his style as Arthur Branch on Law and Order.
But I hear it's just a rumor; that his friendship with John McCain will keep him from responding to the call.

Yes!!! I was going to ask a similar question. I do hope he runs, we need a real conservative and so far we have a pack of rinos and a Mormon. With the current line up we might just as well vote democrat.

Thompson is a good man and would be a good candidate.
He is certainly preferrable to anyone on the Defeatocrat lineup. Should he run, I would probably have no problem voting for him.
