Yes, I have. It's like when you feel like you gave the best answer to a question (you spend time on it, you did some research...) and a not as good answer as yours is chosen as best.
Then again, sometimes you just answer a question and you get chosen out of nowhere...
The point is really: what is the effect on you when that happens. Should you always get what you deserve? What about when you get something you don't deserve?
Thinking about it, starting now, I will lower my expectation to a point where I will not expect anything. If I do not get anything, not even the credit I deserve because I worked hard, so what? I was not expecting anything.
And when I get anything, nice surprise and I will enjoy it.
The secret has finally been revealed to me: low expectation.
If you choose me as best answer, I will be glad about it but if you don't, I will not be disappointed.
I promise.

I grew up in a domestic setting where awards and
recognition were not given for doing what I was
supposed to do, following rules, obeying the
law, showing respect to my elders, being honest,
clean, going to church, doing my homework,
minding my manners, always going to work, always
working hard at work, so yeah, I feel that way a lot.
I've been told that I could not compare myself to
other people, and I finally concluded that I had to
try to be perfect, which set me up for "the failure syndrome". Good question but this may not be the answer you seek.

Most definitely! and if I start to vent I will sound vindictive. Sooooo I'll just leave it at yes. It certainly would feel better to be recognized. But we should feel good about the job and not about the missing praise.... right? *sigh* Right.

A pat on the back is all it takes sometimes.
We know we are all at times underappreciated and they think we are all overpaid.
