I am using ASUS A7V266-MX motherboard (FSB 266/200 MHz) and I have currently 256 MB of RAM. I want to upgrade my RAM to additional 1 GB or 512 MB. Will 400/533 MHz RAM be suitable for my board or Should I get 266/200 MHz RAM?

Just because you put faster RAM in your machine DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL RUN at that speed! It will only run at a set speed trust me on this one.
Id get 512MBx2.

The manual will tell you the maximum capacity and type of RAM the board will take.

If you don't have a manual, google the board serial. Theres a good chance you'll get an on-line pdf format manual.

See your motherboard manual, how much ram it supports and at what frequency. it will help you, if your motherboard is latest, above 865 then there are chances you wont have much problems about frequency.
