I have been accused by several people in my hometown of being a "goth in disguise" and an "underread wiccan". Sure, I mope around a little, like noir literature, am well versed in fantasy fiction, and like to wave my hands around, but doesn't that just make me eccentric?

Gothic is a punk/rock sub-culture, it's influences of course come from rock and punk music movements but also from 'Gothic' literature – generally speaking it is an attraction towards 'darker' things. A Goth would be someone who would typically listen to rock and punk bands such as Killing Joke, The Cure, Dead Can Dance and darker forms of rock music like black metal or gothic rock. A Goth would be someone who wore black clothing, normally punk or Victorian clothing, Lolita seems to be finding its way into Gothic culture as well.

Wicca is a religion, specifically in fact it is a priesthood where a person has to be initiated into a coven with a direct line of initiation going back to either their founder Gerald Gardner or the New Forest Coven of which he was initiated – this is an oath-bound pagan mystery tradition, as such someone cannot be Wicca without full study, training and initiation. As a religion it follows a god and goddess, is generally nature-based, practices both indigenous and ceremonial magic and although based within highly organised rituals in itself there is no hierarchy or central organisation.

That makes you eccentric, not necessarily Goth and certainly not Wicca, people are simply ignorant and scared of people who are different, and they will associate certain people with Gothic subculture or religions incorporating occult practices such as Wicca out of ignorance, stupidity and an attempt to belittle you.

Interesting that they call you an "underread wiccan", that's like the pot calling the kettle black, also interesting that they always bring up Wicca ignoring all the other occult practicing religions, but then that's a whole other discussion.

lol well Firstly unless you actually engage in the wiccan religion your not wiccan. As for goth, personally a goth personality type is shown through a persons interest in the darker side of life and alternative ideas to what is considered the normal which often leads to people looking into dark poetry, diferent consepts of philosophy etc. and Often they gain an understanding of the often over looked underside of the world, due to this It inspires the dark clothing style and may In some cases influence depression (which Is where the steriotype derrives though It doesn't allways have to be the case) These days most people class gothic on the cloths style which is what people seem to like to do these days I beleave the personality type is more acurate though lol. A rather breif explanation hope it helped

To you it would be eccentric but noir literature and moping around seems like the classic symptoms of what is classified "gothic". Does it bother you that people say that or could you move along? As long as you know you are not a gothic, if you would like to make it clear to those people then tell them so.

A wiccian is a witch of some kind. A goth is a person who dresses somewhat like a vampire and acts depressed all the time. Or so it seem from the outside looking in.

Wiccan is a religion. Gothic is a style, IMO. I don't think doing those things make you goth, but I don't know you and can't really give an opinoin. However, I would suggest reading some other genres than fantasy for a while. Especially if you're reading crappy fantasy like Eragon. Stick to Tolkein and move on to other genres, please. (Although if you have found a fantasy that is on par with Tolkein but completley original, I'd love to know what it is.) :)

For me, ecosystem makes song extreme. no longer technicalities as lots, except i'm listening to jazz or classical, romantic, or baroque. With steel specifically, the ambience may be created in some distinctive techniques. Keyboard melodies, guitar melodies, or in the rhythm section. that's somewhat have been given much less to do with technical skill and extra to do with the musical shape of a song. for occasion, just about any Therion song from their album Theli i hit upon to be extreme. I additionally locate intensity in Chopin's Nocturne, as properly as in Mayhem's Freezing Moon. dying steel has especially lots no ecosystem to it except you're staring at a band like Nile or Vader. Metalcore is a bastardization of the organic technicality that dying steel generally is. Metalcore is largely a macho, dick-waving contest for youths who think of they might purely %. up an tool and be a rock famous individual right this moment. have faith me, i understand what i'm speaking approximately, i've got somewhat labored first hand with those dumbasses. BQ: maximum "intense" song? How does this word selection from "extreme" relating to song, on your view? maximum intense might probable be black steel. intensity retains you based and involved. Extremity retains you based and involved, yet feeling uncomfortable. maximum folk can neither understand black steel, nor verify a thank you to place in writing it. Culto from Darkthrone says that the version he and Fenriz had between Soulside adventure and their following albums is the transition that they took from dying to black steel. As an instantaneous quote from Culto, "Black steel grew to become into something distinctive. We had to somewhat think of as a manner to place in writing it. that's in comparison to dying steel the place you are able to purely string heavy, thrashy riffs mutually. you will possibly be able to desire to think of roughly what you're doing, and whether it would not sound thoroughly primary you will possibly be able to desire to be prepared to attempt it, and understand that what you're doing is intentional."
