Microsoft operating systems tend to be very buggy until the second service patch is released. I wouldn't upgrade until Vista SP2 was out, and even then I'd think twice - is it really going to be a benefit? (And is the DRM going to make it worthwhile?)

You dont have to wait to install Vista, because the best time to install it is NEVER. It is no better than XP, but has tremendous problems, such as your video not working, your sound card not working, and your favorite games not working. Instead, get a good open source Operating system that does not get infected with the 114,000 virii that infect Windows, such as kubuntu for free at www.kubuntu.org

You may have to buy more memory to get the same performance out of Vista that you're already getting out of XP. If XP works fine for you, stick with it. I'm not upgrading either.

You just got your Windows XP last December. Probably give more time to tinker and utilize it. Vista is still in its early stages and most software and hardware vendors still has to update their systems to run properly on this new Operating System.

Keep XP, as long as it does the job that you want done there is no reason to change and help Microsoft find errors in their new product.
