Where can I learn to knife-fight effectively in a safe environment? I'd really like to learn how to use a knife effectively in a combat situation butthe only things I can dig up are martial-arts orientated and this doesn't appeal to me.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

Why is it that learning to use your fists and body (boxing, martial arts) is socially acceptable, as is learning to use a gun for the most part (hunting, target sports)- but as soon as you say 'knife', you're a lowlife thug?

There's nothing to learn. Carry a knife. That's what most gang members do. It'll make you look like a total tw@t of course and you'll be 50 times likely to be stabbed yourself, but I don't suppose you're that bothered. All young thugs think they're invincible.

well what other ways can you learn to use a knife in a disciplined controlled environment? if you wanna "knife fight" but are not into any form of martial arts..what about fencing? or do you have an alterior motive..

Few classes teach it other than as part of a martial art.
My grandad and uncle taught me so unless you have a relative or friend who knows how your out of luck.

Any coward can use a weapon. Knifes are for low life thugs/nasty scumbags. Fight like a MAN with your fists if you must do that sort of thing.

go to Johannesburg, South Africa I'm sure u will learn to use a knife there.although it's not a safe environment

well first, you got to rember a knive , going to cut, an even tho you learn the other guy ,might know a little more,,,,, if it came down to a gun are knive, i more worried about the knive, one it going to work, while the gun could , miss fire,, but if you want to learn join the army

Knife fighting are martial-arts oriented in nature and its hard to avoid that. Unless one repackages what was taught in a particular art (eg. Kali,Silat), then it has another name.

You'll have to join the Royal marine commandos....There is no other place for that kind of combat.
