If I wanted to become a wedding planner how should I go about doing it?

First and foremost do not reinvent the wheel! My advice would be to research you local REPUTABLE wedding planners and find out what is making their business successful. Equally important, find out what their weaknesses are, and develop a business model around this. Once you have done your research and feel 100% comfortable that this is the business service you want to offer begin your business plan. Developing is sound business plan will do a couple of things: It will help you to really learn aspects of the business you may or may not have considered; secondly it will serve as another invaluable tool to help you really learn your business. Also, if you need funding from a financial institution, a business plan is an absolute must!
Take the initiative to do like you’ve already done and ask questions, especially to those that already in that line of business. Contrary to popular belief successful business owners are willing to share business knowledge and experiences. Many are willing to mentor up and coming business owners.
Visit your local Small Business Administration (SBA) http://www.sba.gov , if you’ve never done a business plane they have a program called SCORE that will be helpful to you. Many of these services are free, so take advantage of them.
Lastly and most importantly, pray, pray, pray. I wish you success and prosperity and I hope that if this is your passion you pusue it with same passion and don’t get discouraged over those that are negative, they come a dime a dozen.
