Holiday..... first New York for 5/6 nights, followed by Orlando or Los Angeles.... but which???
For 15 year old daughter and her father who both likes cities, theme parks, beaches and shopping. We can't decide between Orlando or LA, they want to see some big sights and famous attractions, whilst having fun in a safe environment???? At moment, I'm warming towards LA as there seems more to do and see, a bit different from JUST theme park and beaches.
Any thoughts???
Also what's LA like temperature wise at end of October?

I'd recommend Orlando instead of LA. DisneyWorld in Orlando is much better than DisneyLand in LA - there are the 4 theme parks in Orlando - Magic Kingdom, MGM, Animal Kingdom and Epcot whereas in LA you only get Magic Kingdom and another one which escapes me at the moment. I wasn't so impressed with DisneyLand. You have Universal Studios in both Orlando and LA but again, in Orlando they have additional theme parks. Orlando also has SeaWorld whereas in LA, you would have to drive to San Diego. Also, you can drive to Busch Gardens in Tampa in about an hour and a half from Orlando.

I find Orlando much more compact and easier to get around than LA - LA is much more sprawling and unfriendly. Admittedly, LA does have Hollywood and Rodeo Drive which Orlando doesn't.

Both of them have great beaches - you can get to St Petes or Cape Canaveral quite easily from Orlando and in LA you have Santa Monica.

I find Orlando much safer than LA and easier to get around. I've been to both a couple of times but I don't think I'd go back to LA again whereas I would go back to Orlando.

Happy holidays!

I'm guessing you're a brit or an aussie if you're saying "holiday" :)
For a family vacation, I'd go for LA as well. I feel like Florida is the most fun when you're a 20-something out to go clubbing and drinking. LA culture is like you might expect, and that's kind of interesting to experience first-hand.
Weather-wise... very, very nice. Probably 80s or 70s, with a chance of rain of about zero. LA is also almost as good as New York in terms of shows, too - although maybe you'll have had your fill of them by the time you get there!
Wherever you go, I hope you have fun!

It will be nice and warm! We did a tour of Western America a while back and it was beautiful, the only draw back is the amount of pornography in your face in LA, particularly around the airport area. To be fair we went straight to Palm Springs so didn't see too much in LA but be prepared for the porno mag machines and the strip clubs, there is quite a few of them (I imagine the beach areas to be lovely though)

Go to Disneyworld first in Orlando. Check out weather.com, watch your local news for weather reports. This is March. Wait until the fall. Go to wikipedia.com and check out the geography of Los Angeles in fall.
