It means Region 2. If it's a region 2 DVD then it will work in Europe, the UK and Africa. Region 1 DVD's work in the America's and I think Region 3 works in Asia.
It doesn't really matter because most DVD's that are made these days are multi-region so they can usually play any DVD's. It's mostly the older DVD players that can only play DVD's from certain regions.

R2 means region 2, region 2 is the dvd format region for the uk

it means if you find the R2 DVD player the actors actually walk out of the screen and perform the movie for you. Its quite stunning- however the R2 DVD player is buried deep beneath the Earth's crust and does not use electricity. Its too advanced for that. You need to find the flux-capacitor which not only makes time-travel possible, but poweres the R2 DVD player.

yes region 2 would be correct..I'm not sure exactly how to explain it but I guess the different regions are the different countries and some DVD players won't recognize certain regions........
