Ethernet is an IEEE standard for LAN/MAN.
It includes different standards for setting up a LAN/MAN.
It defines different topologies, frame formats, Addressing & use of hardware.
Every PC has its own ethernet card or Network Inteface card(NIC). It is provided by the manufacturer and is unique for a particular PC. Every PC on the network is identified by this address after matching its IP with corresponding Enthernet ID.
