Well I got my lip ring when I was 16 (I am now 25). I love it a ton, I think it adds something special to my face. Try a fake one for a couple weeks to try it out on your mom and to see if you like it.
Keep in mind, though, that lip piercings take a lot more care than earrings. You have to clean the lip ring a LOT, because so much stuff touches your mouth every day (hands, makeup, chapstick, food, telephones, etc).
Also, think about what will happen if you DO get the real piercing and end up not liking it or your mom makes you take it out- it WILL and DOES leave a scar. I took mine out for a bit once, and ended up getting it repierced because a stud in there looks nicer than a hole in my lip!
This piercing takes a couple months to heal, too... and your lip will swell and look like you got beat up for a few days. They will pierce it with a needle and a clamp, and put a bigger ring in there so when it swells the ring doesn't pinch your lip. Then, after about 2 months, you can change the hoop to a smaller one or a stud. Also, you will need a parent with you when you go to get it done, since you're not 16.

Good luck with your decision!

You're still too young. Being "14 in June" means that you're still only thirteen. I think that the fake lip ring is a good idea. If you want to show you're out there, you can chop off your hair, dye it blue, or wear unconventional clothes. It doesn't need to be permanent

Ok first of all, they dont use the guns anymore like they do on ears...they clamp your lip and shove a needle throught it... it is hard to eat, and the first time you take it out and put it back in the pain is horible, it is hard to eat for 3 days, veryu few piercing places will let you put a lip ring in befor you let it heal for three weeks, your lip heals and after you get it dont all you want to do is sleep...you will out grow it quickly, but on the plus side is isnt very painful :)

If you really want it, and your parents approve , go for it. Just to worn you, you will be stuck with possible scars on your face. I had 3 piercings on my face, now I have a little scars. It doesnt look pretty. There is nothing wrong with showing your individuality, but just think about it in the long run. Chances are, you wont want them when you are older.
