As long as you restrict yourself to the gel and do not ingest the yellow juice from the inner skin of the plant you should be fine. Massive consumption of aloe can cause kidney problems, but on the whole it's not very toxic.

Not even the skin of it is poisonous. Aloe Vera is one the the all use plants that you may use the whole of it, except the roots. The white interior of the leaves can be use to make home coughing syrups and for the skin treatments. The dry skin is use to drink as fiber for people with constipation or for a regular evacuation.

No aloe Vera is not poisonous,it's many uses prove the gel within its fleshy leaves have many uses mainly in cosmetics & skin preperations,it's effectiveness is attributed to mucopolysacharides in the gel within it's fleshy,leaves .Leaves & flowers are edible.Protective gel coating for fresh produce like grapes & other fruit are presently in use in some countries.

Aloe vera's sap alone is poisonous.It depends on what use one wants from it.It is even used as food preservative(substitute for sulphur dioxide).
