I have 142 points on here and it said i only needed 129 to go to level 2 but i haven't gone up a level why is this anyone???

You need 129 MORE points to get to level 2.
It goes down as you earn points, watch.

You need a total of 250 points to get up to level 2. Why the haste to get that anyway?

Well, answer as many questions as you can (20 a day now) and when you're maxed out, vote for as many unresolved questions as you can (20 for level 1). Then in no time you'll be there. I know it's a pain when you've first started out, as there are so many questions you could answer, but you can't because of the limitations. So, let's get out of level one as fast as possible.

Keep answering questions, and try to answer them in a way to get people to vote your answer as best. You get 10 pts for that. This is how the top scorers with 300,000+ points got there. Almost half to 60% of their answers were rated best.
I am at level 7 with almost 62,000, but I scratched and clawed my way there. I only have 6% of best answers in over 20,000+
questions answered.
