The phrase i would like to translate is
"May God grant me the valor to be a good man."
I used to take latin but it was ages ago- the best i could come up with is
"Dominus mihi valoris sum bonum hominem daret."
Does that sound about right?

Dominus mihi fortitudinem det ut vir sim.
Used 'vir' for 'good man'. 'Vir' translates to: 'person of courage, honor, and nobility' , and that seemed to fit better than 'bonus homo' "Valor' is not a classic Latin word - 'fortitudo' was used for this concept.

I believe that this would be a good translation:
Deus fortitudinem mihi dare potet bonum virum esse.
But then again I could be wrong, so if anyone has a better or more correct translation please post it.
