I wouldn't remove any antivirus program you are running, you are talking about an antispyware program.

Add/Remove, tick the program, removeAnti-Spyware Protection if it is listed.
But you say it is alerting you to install it. It sounds like you already have spyware or something on your computer. I would first use Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html, and AdAwareSE Person - http://www.lavasoft.com/ - they are both free. Delete everything they find.

As mentioned above, AVG Anti-Spyware7.5 is free, and runs in the background. http://www.grisoft.com/doc/special-stay-protected-isw-free75cnv/us/crp/0#free

Hope this helps

Disconnect from the Internet!!!!!!!!!!!

Goto Start>Contgrol Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Find the name of your antivirus program and uninstall it. After you have uninstalled it go to your C drive and open Program Files and look for anything that had the name of the deleted program and delete that.

Reinstall the antivirus you prefer before connecting to the internet again. AVG 7.5 is a good, free antivirus program.

Do what the others have said. Make sure you follow the extra that c3webs said about clearing the files as well. Make sure you don't connect to the internet tho until you have got some more protection. I cleared Norton off a short while ago and added AVG which is great and its FREE!

Good luck.....

Follow the details already given, but be sure to install another program if you're still going to surf the net.

USE ONLY AS LAST RESORT!!!!

If anything else doesn't work do this Start>Search>All Files And Folders>type the name of the program>click search>wait until it's done right click and delete.

Start, control panel, add remove programs, delete.
Or open `my computer` open program files and delete the folder.
Don`t leave your computer without a valid antispyware programme..........
