My 5 month baby started sleeping well (8pm - 7am) and only waking once for a feed. Recently she wakes several times during the night and cannot settle herself anymore so we have to pick her up and hold her until she falls asleep again. Sometimes she even starts crying in her sleep the second I put her down again. If we leave her to cry too long she throws up so it is difficult to leave her as well. Could she be teething? Are most babies like this during teething and do they go back to their old routine eventually? A tired mummy:(

Infants do go through sleep cycles. In addition your child could be teething or have an earache.

If it was colic- you would know it by now.

Your child will absolutly go back to her old routine. She may be hungry overnight, have you tried nursing her the other times she wakes?

You are lucky either way. My son turns one on tuesday and has slept through the night only a handful of times.

Poor you. Have been having similar problems with our 6 mth old. More waking in the night usually suggests hunger. They have a growth spurt at 6 mths so need extra food. If the waking up is just out of habit i.e not in pain with teeth (this can really upset the routine and put them off course for a while) or wanting food then you have to be strong and ignore the crying. After a few upsetting nights, babies usually realise it is not worth the effort of crying and settle back on their own. Very difficult though. The throwing up is probably just cause she gets herself into such a state. It must be quite frightening for babies when they feel poorly or have a temp or pain so they do need extra comfort and reassurance. Good luck!

The only acceptable explanation is an ear infection. After you rule that out, you MUST let her cry. By picking up and holding her, you are reinforcing the behaviour you want to stop. Let her cry. If she throws up, silently clean it up, put her back down, and start over. Do NOT give her attention for the crying or it will never ever stop.

attempt aroma medical care. Like candles, incense, etc. Chamomile and lavender. Meditation. finished silence and darkish. A softer mattress. attempt to deal along with your daily stress for the duration of the day by way of a minimum of a few hours previously you knock off (yeah, like that's friggin' posible). See your generic practitioner. Insomnia med's and slumbering pills have come a protracted way. There are even some organic homeopathic treatments on the industry these days. in terms of prescribed drugs, ask an MD approximately Ambien. It places you out, yet is greater hassle-free than maximum tranquilizers. and you will have the skill to awaken day after on the instant. save bottled iced coffee perfect by way of your mattress for the morning (like Starbuck's frappucino). while you're a woman, i stumbled on that giving a woman that i'm with a considerable orgasm places her perfect out. i'm no longer even kidding, have your guy (or woman, it rather is cool) do you merely right. you will sleep like a toddler.

my baby does the same thing, and has on and off for a while. shes 11months now. it could be teething, or just a faze she is going thru. don't worry though, she'll get back into her routine soon just to break it again! try and hang in there and things will get easier. u gotta remember shes just a little baby and little things can mess up their whole little routine! i don't blame u for not wanting to leave her, im the same way. i enjoy holding my baby till she sleeps and while she sleeps. do it while she'll let u! they grow up sooooo fast. good luck!!! : )

Sounds like collic or teething... Get her checked out by teh health visitor or your GP to be sure. Resettle her as much as you can but try not to disrupt your routine too much as it will be harder to re-establish it when she is feeling better and you will be shattered, but obviously don't be too Gina Ford about it!!!

Sounds like it may be colic. Gas gets trapped and that makes the baby uncomfortable. Have you made any changes to his diet?
My son had that problem and what finally cured him was putting him on baby cereal. Seems that helped push out the gas.
Check with the pediatrician and see what the nurse there or the doctor recommends.

sounds like she may be teathing. try giving her some orajel or some teething tablets. sorry to say, but you'll just have to be a tired mommy! it's just something you'll have to deal with until the tooth pops out. then you'll have to do it all over again with another tooth!

when my son (now 7 yrs) was teething, he was so easy to handle. just gave him the orajel and a wet washcloth to chew on and he was fine. but my daughter (now 4 yrs) was so horrible. when she was teething, she would get diarrhea, high fevers, vomiting, and just wouldn't stop crying no matter how much orajel was given. i'm SO glad i survived that!!

hang in there and get rest when you can.

I know you're tired. But coddle her for a few months more. She'll settle down. I promise.
