It seems like there is such a division between people now. The Republicans and Democrats are so opposed that I don’t think we can form a bridge. In immigration on here I hear people say horrible things about other races. Is torture, war, domestic spying things we want? Christians and Muslims are not that different in beliefs but you would think so by reading the news and reading the "Answers" here. Is this what we have become?

Being from that generation. I still thing the world is better and getting better all the time. The only difference is; we seen more and know more from what is happening in the world now than we did in the sixties. I still have the spirit and the flower power in me, the flower pant don't fit any more. Be good be nice.

Actually there wasn't that much peace and love in the 70's as you are assuming. Truthfully the political parties were at each other's throats almost as much as they are now. And sex is really easier to get today than during the "free love" era so commonly associated with the time period. I've often thought that the 300,000 people at Woodstock was the ENTIRE free love population at the time. The rest of us were very much like we are today. Forums such as "Answers" make it appear as if we've become a nation of hate and discontent but online forums simply have become a way to make it easier for people to express their opinions to a larger audience and the people compelled to do this will certainly do so. You will find that throughout history people really don't change much. Things become more out in the open with the passage of time and the information age and that's why it seems the way it does. Actually life gets better as we head into the future.

Well you must have been on an LSD trip in 1969, because my brother was drafted and sent to Vietnam, the parties had just as much if not more division and the FBI spied on everyone, I was 9 years old and can still remember all the young soldiers on the train in Fort Polk crying like babies because they were going off to war. So what peace and love are you talking about, getting women hooked on drugs to have sex, thats most likely what your thinking about

Peace and Love are still here. More so now when people have religion. So many conflicts; so many wars and rumours of wars. Media are more sophisticated.More reporters om the war zones. Love and Peace are still existing otherwise no humn rights activists and movements.

Is you suggestion we should return to those days when everyone was stoned. All hairy, never washed themselves, had sex with anyone, even with same, didn't work and sponged off their folks, listened to deafening music, spit on soldiers returning from Vietnam. That was the bad in 1969.Today we have to much information and to many people that believe all the hype. When it gets to armed and ready to kill on both sides of the isle and we hang news casters in the street it won't change much.

And the world is getting divided too... to add to that :-(

This is unfortunate, but isn't this the truth of nature and for all things to come? It reflects on the ups and downs in our society, in life, the world and nature of reality... It is impermanence, and we, humans fail to realise no matter how powerful one may become, shall fall and bite the dust in return.

If people learn to become more humble and understanding, they shall love one another more, but this is not going to happen unless we act rather than just wishful thinking...

The flowers wilted away, but the dope didn't. it was a beautiful daydream, and the barbers won in the end.
