good grief. despite what the others said freckles are not just from sun exposure. sun freckles and hereditary freckles are 2 different things. some babies do have freckles and some it takes a little longer to see.

It probably has a lot to do with skin pigmentation. Sometimes a baby's 'true' skin color doesn't appear 'til days or even weeks later. It might be true of freckles, too. It could be a certain hormone as well. When I was pregnant with my twins, I suddenly got more freckles during the last 2 months, & I was
hardly out in the sun at all! Then when they were born, they
disappeared.

Its sun damage that causes freckles - limit sun exposure and you will have less freckles.

Im not saying avoid the sun altogether, but se sensible and use sunscreen, wear a hat and long sleeve shirt and dont stay out in the danger periods (approx 11am - 3pm)

Freckles can lead to skin cancer (in some cases) so prevention is the best cure and its best to start young by protecting your child as long as possible.

because their skin is still pure. my kids didn't get freckles until they were about 3 years old. i believe freckles come from the sun, so if your kids don't spend a whole lot of time outdoors, it'll take longer for them to get freckles.

I think partly inadequate sun factor protection, always use a high factor on young children. What about moles, my son is almost three and he has 2 tiny ones that appeared about 6 months ago, I think tey just appear gradually! I have loads now i'm 30.
