That's a tough question to answer. There are so many great guitarists out there. After all is said and done though as far as the original way the solo is played (not live or anything) I guess it would have to be Eddie Van Halen's "Eruption" That is the most innovative solo to date in my opinion.

Jeff Buckley in Hallelujah - dunno if it's cheating your rules because it's included in a song (one of the greatest songs of all time) but I could listen to his guitar solo forever.
