I'm going there this coming Wednesday, and go every year (I was born there). It's a beautiful place with a 1000 year old history. If you don't care about that, They have what's called Prague Spring. Concerts from bands all over the world. (This year I counted about 41 of them, from rock to classical). Food is great, beer is fantastic (original Budweiser and Pilsner). You'll find many foreigners to meet in the heart of town, and on Wenceslaus Square. (Word of caution... don't change your money with some creep that comes along and offers a "good" rate. You'll probably wind up with bunch of counterfeit or obsolete money).
Get yourself a 1 or 2 week transportation pass. you can then use the trains (in city), buses, trams, metro, and even the cable car to Petrín.

Enjoy

Oh... stay away from gypsies and taxi drivers.

the other post is pretty accurate, I would suggest getting a travel book, either Rough Guide or Timeout, both for Prague.

If you are there for less than a week, I would do what everyone there does: the Castle, Oldtown, Mala Strana, Vysehrad, ect.

For more than a week, take a few day trips: Karlovy Vary, Pilsen (take a tour of the Urquell Brewery if you like beer even just a little bit), Kutna Hora is a really good place to go to, the Bone Church is something you will never forget!

Taxis are a ripoff except coming from the airport (they have specified prices for trips to the center), they try to steal from tourists and locals alike! I've never seen gypsies molesting anyone, but I still wouldn't trust them. But outside of pickpockets, I wouldn't worry about crime.

The weather will be great.

Prague is a beautiful city to visit, good choice! lol There is a lot to see in Prague itself, beginning with the Pont Alexandre Bridge ( wer if u kiss ur loved one in a midsummer's nite, ur love wud last forever.. ) lol , then make ur way up to the Catheral, u cant miss it as its actually visible coz its up a lil hill.Beautiful stained glass.U can try to google up some places of interests.Dont miss the "Old Town Square" lotsa nice cafes wer u can "rest" ur feet.U prolly wud wanna shop at the "mustek" area, lots to see & in Summer, they have markets..wer u can get "witches" dolls & toys made from wood, which is rather interesting.Ppl are nice there & can speak good english ( just in case u tink they cant ) , There is also lotsa classical concerts going around, plays & shows.U can find a tourist office at the Mustek area , wer u can get brochures of activities going on at that time.If u like spooky things, they also a " midnite trail" wer they take u to those old small "haunted" streets/buildings. U can also take those "Yellow Umbrella tours" .They meet up usually at the Old town square, pay a fee, they'll take u to all the historical places. If ure bored, u can always "paddle" in the river , juz for the fun of it..lol becareful of pickpockets & dont change $$ wid the guys hanging outside currency exchange offices. Also, if ure booked into a hotel thats in the Old town sqaure area, there is no need to hire cabs, just walk...everything is pretty close.Best way to know a city is to walk around it.So, buy a map when u arrive.Have a great time!!
