I am glad you want to be a well-rounded person. I would love to see you make the most of your talents, and enjoy your artwork and use your creativity. Almost everyone can learn to add up but real creativity is quite rare.

The best suggestion I have for you is to practice, and to keep a record of how much you are improving. Take a good inventory of where you are with math and science now, and do so again every four or six months.

Concentration helps a lot too. You can choose to focus on what is being said in class and on your book when you are reading one...... you know, turn the music off, never mind what's out the window, and don't let other kids distract you when you're trying to learn. And it may help to discover what time of day you learn best. Some of us do our best work at 7 in the morning, others at 9 or 10 at night.

And I invite you to consider quitting comparing with others. The queen of diamonds does not moan because she is not a big spade. When we compare oursleves with ourself as we used to be, we can see our own development, our own progress, and isn't that what really matters? Envy is actually emotional poison, it drains our energy with negative thinking. Is the other person really a better person than you, and does she have an easier or happier life, because she knows what to do with a bunsen burner?

If it doesn't come naturally then it doesn't come naturally, so it goes.

I read about some psychology professor the other day who said that the thing about knowledge is that the more you know about something, the easier it will be to keep learning about it. In other words, work on your maths and science, and the more you work on it, the easier it will become to learn more!
