The past two or three years the raises have been around 20%, plus no out of pocket raises. Also, the company is cracking down on excessive overtime. Does that mean the company is in trouble? Should I be looking for another job? This place is becoming really tight with their raises. Most people around here say that you should just be lucky to have a job. What do you think?

45%/20%?!?!?! and you are complaining?!?!?!??!

It probably means their accountant chewed them a new rear end.
Most annual raises are 3-10% TOPS. Their are some pretty big companies even, that dont give out raises like you mention.

"Cracking down on excessive overtime"? for waht it sounds like they are paying, they should. If you can do the job in 40 hous, why should they pay for you to do it in 50? Why should they pay you time and a half when tehy can pay someoen else time?

You have to look at it from an employer's prospetive also. The point is to make a profit.

I really think you should be glad you have a job... much less one that really gives raises. But, if you are really unhappy, discretely get your name out there... see what is available.

BTW, I am a teacher. I work on salary...no overtime pay... probably an additional 10-20 unpaid hours per week.

I worked at a tool /die shop and they froze any kind of a raise for 4 years during the lean times...but, they have been going since 1948. Sometimes these places need to cut out the excesses until the market for them opens up.....

are you for real? most people get like 2% raises or if their really lucky 5% raises! i'd say the company you work for has been overly generous maybe they're coming to their senses now.

stay put, your spoiled and wouldn't be happy anywhere else.
